Holstebro - Denmark’s most Beautiful Town
A fantastic town environment with cosy squares, lots of art and culture, and most of all incredibly exciting specialty shops and an inspiring Nørreport Center which – together with Nyholm Center outside central town where the large stores are situated – make the setting for an exciting shopping experience in Holstebro.
Pedestrian area
The Pedestrian street, Nørregade, in Holstebro opened in 1962 and is one of the oldest in Denmark. In 2001 a renovation of the tiling started with Bjørn Nørgaard as the artist behind the project.
Besides the tiling, Bjørn Nørgaard also made room for 3 circles of art in the pedestrian street: The eye of Odin, The source of life and The Hand of Jesus. Furthermore the pedestrian street is decorated with several sculptures throughout the entire street, amongst them: Giacometti’s “Woman on cart”.
The street offers a large variety of retail stores,
cafés and restaurants. At night this is also the area where it is possible to experience the nightlife of Holstebro.
Nørreport Centret
Nørreport Centret is a shoppingmall in down town Holstebro. The mall was build in 1978 and in 2008 a renovation, providing more space for shops and parking spots, were completed.
The mall is placed at the end of the pedestrian street, Nørregade. The mall has more than 25 shops under one roof. It offers dinning, supermarket, and a variety of specialty shops.
With more than 500 free parking spots there is plenty of opportunity to park near by the entrance.
Nyholm Centret
Nyholm Center is a fairly new shopping area in the outskirts of the city. The area is by the locals best known for the department store, Bilka, which opened in the beginning of the 90’s. Since then other large stores have moved to the area, which today has between 15-20 stores. Besides a large department store the area also offer a toy store, restaurants, interior design stores and many other things.
