Lots of activities for children outdoors and indoors
What really attracts children is water. We have plenty of water in the municipality of Holstebro: The North Sea with its dunes and long, white beaches and the Limfjord with its child-friendly beaches. Catching crabs and jellyfish is a popular activity among children both at sea and in the fiord.

Great action and fun
Are you looking for action? We propose a trip to Ulfborg Swimming Bath with its 40-metre water slide or to our leisure pool complex Holstebro Badeland, where you will find, among other things, a 72-metre turbo slide, a children’s pool and a grotto with a cascade of water.

In Klosterheden Plantation you can ride your mountain bike through the forest, and the mountain bike track in the hilly terrain by Sdr. Vosborg Hede is the perfect playground for the future professional cyclist. Kids love to explore our exciting and challenging forest playgrounds, while their parents enjoy the surrounding countryside. You can, for instance, visit Nørhede Forest Playground, the forest playground in Borbjerg Plantation or the one in Præstbjerg Plantation.

A world of possibilities
Numerous activities and experiences await children in and around Holstebro. You will find them, for instance, at Kystcentret and Jyllandsakvariet, in Baboon City, in Legoland, at Spøttrup Castle or in Mønsted Limestone Caves.
Another possibility is to enter the magical world of cinema in Scala Holstebro, our cinema with three screens showing all the new movies.
Our public library has an excellent children’s section with a playroom for the little ones. Computers are available to the public during the library’s opening hours.

Nissum Fjord, the lake Stubbergård Sø and the bathing lake in Husby Dune Plantation are also ideal for bathing and swimming. There is a whole world of activities in, on and with water, one of which is canoeing – a wonderful experience for children and adults alike.
Exciting historical experiences
At the open air museum of Hjerl Hede you can experience history in an authentic village setting, including a Stone Age settlement, a steam sawmill and a bakery. Come and test your abilities at the historical playground, which also has a contemporary counterpart.
Another hit for kids is the collection of toys at Holstebro Museum, a collection of dolls and tin toys etc. dating from 1845 to 1970. Strange-looking branches, dried-up carcasses, iron and plastic gadgets and stuffed animals – these are just some of the wonderful things children and adults can experience together in the so-called Wonder Chamber (Undrekammeret) situated in the basement of Holstebro Art Gallery.
