ThorsmindeWest coast history is a fascinating and often rather harsh chapter. Being one of the most dangerous coasts in the world, it has at all times been feared by sailors. Countless ships wrecked on this cruel coast, and divers can still find shipwrecks that are over 100 years old. The St. George Museum in Thorsminde displays finds from, among others, the two English ships of the line St. George and Defence, which wrecked on Christmas night 1811 causing the death of more than 1300 English sailors.
